USW Coach Kath Morgan post-match:
Q: Obviously a disappointing result but your team did have chances during the game, what were your overall thoughts?
KM: Well to be honest I thought we were exceptionally poor from start to finish. I think the elements were against us, we’ve been very spoilt playing in the indoor barn and we failed to adapt to conditions. We haven’t won the first ball, we haven’t won the second ball and to be fair to Cardiff Met they thoroughly deserved the victory. We only had two clear chances on goal and that’s not good enough. However, I take light from the fact we’ve never played this badly this season, my girls aren’t robots, they put in a shift for me every week. so we move on to the league next week which is my only priority
Q: Your attacking players have been immense this season but were quiet today, just a one off?
KM: Yeah possibly individuals just weren’t up for it today, maybe they didn’t sleep well, maybe they were out celebrating Wales qualifying for the Euros but they are human beings. They don’t turn up not wanting to play well or not score goals but that’s life and there’s far worse things that could have happened.
Cardiff Met Coach Post Match
Q: What does this win mean for you today?
Met Coach: It’s a massive win, when you come to USW, you don’t necessarily expect to win or keep a clean sheet. Last time we played them we struggled but today we weren’t cut open at all so we’re really really pleased with that.
Q: How much confidence will you take from keeping this quality USW attack goalless?
Met Coach: Massive confidence, some of the girls struggle with confidence at times but over the last couple of games not just today we’ve defended well and prepared ourselves well and to come up against players like Rhianne Oakley, Ffion Llewellyn who we know a lot about and compete and keep them at bay is massive for us.
